About Mountain Nomad
Meet Your Host
Hi, I'm Hannah
I'm half Japanese, half American raised between two cultures, two languages, and a lot of mountains. I grew up splitting time between Japan and the U.S., which puts me in a position as a bridge, translating not just words, but ways of seeing the world.
I hold an MBA focused the Outdoor Industry from Western Colorado University, and my background spans backcountry guiding with Niseko Zen, skimo racing and trail running on the Western team, and community building. But the real education came from years of living in Tokyo, attending Japanese public school, skiing in the backcountry, and building relationships with local communities.
Mountain Nomad hosts intentional cultural trips to Japan. With my experience in these two worlds I am able to curate unique experiences that are a positive impact to the local communities.
When I'm not planning trips, you'll find me birdwatching in the mountains or playing guitar.

Our Mission
To create thoughtful Japan travel experiences that respect local communities, culture, and the environment.
Every trip we design supports local businesses, honors Japanese traditions, and leaves the mountains better than we found them. We believe travel should be an exchange, not an extraction.
Let's plan something together.
Whether it's a solo trip, a group adventure, or something you haven't figured out yet, we'd love to hear from you.
